Tile or marble: which flooring to choose in Morocco?
In Morocco, soils must be resistant to intensive use, thermal variations and frequent maintenance. Two options dominate in villas and offices: ceramic tiles (including ceramic stoneware) and natural marble. Porcelain stoneware is distinguished by its very low absorption of water (< 0.5% according to EN 14411), its hardness and ease of maintenance. It now faithfully imitates stone, wood or terrazzo. In contrast, marble, a prestigious natural material, offers a unique veining and remarkable durability but requires a suitable maintenance (neutral pH products, acid protection, periodic sealing). Criteria of choice: use (living rooms, kitchen, water rooms), glissance, heating compatibility, desired maintenance, overall cost (purchase + installation + maintenance). In wet areas, porosity and absorption coefficient are decisive: ISO 10545-3 standards define the method of measurement that guides technical choice. SECOND WORK accompanies the selection (format, joints, baseboards, laying scheme), produces a rigorous support preparation and ensures the finishings (walking nose, thresholds) for a lasting and aesthetic result.
